Boston Getaway

In keeping up with out crazy, busy lifestyle, the first weekend in August we decided to do a grown-up trip to Boston to visit Aunt Melissa and Uncle Josh.  We left the kids with Grandma and Grandpa in Albany and continued on a few more hours to Hudson, MA.  We stayed in M&J's new apartment and it was nice to catch up with them.  Saturday we headed to Jamaica Plain to the Samuel Adams brewery tour, which came highly recommended by Josh.  It was a warm day and the brewery was very busy.  While we waited for our tour time we walked to J.P. Licks ice cream and back again.  We enjoyed our tour and beer tasting, followed by a trolley ride to Doyle's for a late lunch.  After lunch we drove downtown to Boston and parked, then walked several blocks (dozens of blocks!) to the theater district.  We saw Shear Madness at the Charles Playhouse.  After the show we walked via Boston Common and some of the Freedom Trail to the North End/Little Italy area to get a late dinner.  The main streets were packed and we finally found a deli on a side street where we wouldn't have a wait.  We loaded up with calzones and baked goods and went to a common area with a nice skyline view of the city and ate.  It was a quick walk back to the car and then we drove back to Hudson to sleep.  Sunday we had a lazy morning, slept in, took a driving tour of the town, visited Josh's work, and then headed back to get the kids after lunch.  We can't wait for a return trip with the kids next time - there are so many sights we'd like them to see too!
