One Year Pictures

Today we brought Teagan outside for a one year photo session.  I am sure there will be some more of these over the next week or two, just to sufficiently capture some great pictures of Teagan as we celebrate her birthday.  She was cooperative for about 10 minutes, long enough for us to get some shots and manage to keep her birthday party dress clean until next weekend.

Teagan has begun the early stages of walking.  Up until now she had been happily crawling and cruising along furniture, refusing to take both hands off even for a moment.  This weekend she has started taking more risks - letting go with both hands to grab a toy, letting go to take a few steps to our arms, and even letting go to cut corners and get somewhere faster.  She also is standing on her own, sometimes as long as 5 or 10 seconds.  I am sure its only a matter of time before she is running away from us!  We'll keep you posted on the progress, and I will upload some video as soon as there is really some walking action to be seen!

Here are some of our favorites for your enjoyment:

I Love Daddy!

We had fun play time outside this afternoon while enjoying the beautiful spring weather.  Teagan was very happy and excited when Daddy got home from work to join us.  We are looking forward to a low key long weekend together.

Soon to be Birthday Girl

Teagan got an early birthday gift this weekend from Great Grandma and Grandpa K because they were in town.  She had so much fun opening the gifts.  She doesn't quite appreciate the gifts yet, but she had a blast with the paper!  She will enjoy the stuffed bunny and kitty bib in no time.  The rest of the photos are random shots of T being her silly self today.  She seemed to be feeling better but is still having a lot of teething pain!

Teagan's favorite activity - reading books

Congrats Uncle Mike!

This weekend we celebrated Uncle Mike's college graduation.  It was hot and humid in the arena but Teagan handled it well.  She was very friendly and well behaved.  She made it through the day despite being under the weather, teething, and going on little sleep due to the complications of napping when out of the house all day long.

Random

Just a quick update on T before our busy weekend begins.  This weekend we celebrate Uncle Mike's college graduation.  Teagan is home today because she had a little fever this morning.  Hopefully she is just fighting off a little cold and will be as good as new with a day home with Mama.  She has been doing a good job of calling me Mama and Matt Dada recently.  Not 100% consistent but she does it often enough that we think she's almost got it down!   Things haven't been well in the teething department, as her top teeth descend they are giving her some pain.  There is a good shot of the top toofers below.

More pics to come after this weekend - Matt and Teagan got me a new lens for our camera for Mother's day, but it isn't here yet, so Matt's friend lent us his and I played around with it last night, and plan to some more this weekend.  Even in mediocre lighting with a tired baby I still got some great shots.

Lovely Lilacs

Today we went to the lilac festival to look at the lilacs, snap a few pictures, and walk around.  Teagan didn't nap great this morning so we were trying to hurry before she was too exhausted.  By the time we got to taking the pictures it was starting to rain :(  We snapped quick before it poured - the result as you can see was:
a) a cute picture of T where my arms look fat
b) a cute picture of T
c) T being silly
d) a cute picture of T in front of some tulips with no pants on (diaper change then a hungry baby who didn't want to wait for pants which led to an interrupted feeding because pictures needed to be taken before it rained, hence, no pants)
e) Teagan squatting in front of tulips - at least while taking these pictures I could hear people oooh-ing and ahhh-ing over my cute kid as they walked by, and
f) a picture of Matt and T where T is making a face

These were literally the best 5 pictures of the bunch (of 85) so I was a little bummed.  We had a brisk, wet walk back to the car, and T fell asleep within minutes on our way home.

Also, as we were walking down one of the paths at the festival, I looked up to see Chuck Schumer walking towards me.  Yes, the NY Senator was walking towards me.  He walked up to me and shook my hand, then asked "who is this cute little one?" to which I answered "this is my daughter Teagan".  He told me his chief of staff just had a Teagan.  Then he shook Matt's hand and walked away.  We figured he must have been in the parade.  He looked a little over dressed in his suit (especially on this 75 degree day) but it was a random, fun encounter none the less.

Quick Check-in

Just a few quick updates tonight on Teagan.  Seems like the weekends go by too fast these days!  Teagan's 3rd top tooth has made it's way through the surface, and the 4th one is very close.  She is exploring everything by crawling or cruising along furniture.  I can't believe it's less than a month until she turns 1!!  The party plans are in the works.  She has been continuing with her good appetite of solid foods - the girl hasn't met a food she doesn't like.  She is still pretty trim, it seems like she just keeps stretching taller and getting trimmer in the body.  Must be the constant activity.  Her new favorite "toy" is her board books.  She likes to play with them, turn the pages, look at the pictures, talk to them, and push them around the room.  She will also sit in my lap and let me read to her.  Her favorite books of the moment are Dr. Seuss's A B C, Richard Scary's Cars and Trucks from A to Z, and Farmyard Friends.  She likes to hear all of the animal noises and see the kitties on the farm, and listen to her Mama read the Dr. Seuss and Richard Scary books in funny voices.
