Declan's Turn

Declan took a turn being my lens model on Sunday.  He started off nice and clean but ended up with chalk and who-knows-what-else all over his shirt.  But he was having a blast playing outside, as usual.  Such a handsome big boy.

Teagan popped a bubble on his head and it was a pretty neat shot

"I think I can, I think I can"

Teagan didn't love the sound of the neighbor's firecrackers...

...but she did think the sparklers were pretty cool

Macro Fun

After Teagan had her fill of being my model I moved on to non-human objects.  The chalk, bees, spiders, and flowers don't gripe when I take their picture.  A little later, Teagan was more in the mood to let me capture her flying leaps off the neighbor's rock.  Declan was asleep and Teagan's friend Gavin wasn't home but Teagan did sit with his sister Ella on the rock for a few minutes.  She was not feeling well so no smiles for me, but she still looked sweet anyway.  Tonight was Declan's turn for new-lens-paparazzi so I look forward to editing and sharing more of my little man soon.

Little Lens Model

I got a new lens recently and the other night I dragged Teagan outside and bribed her with a popcorn snack to model for me so I could play.  She wasn't too into it but I did get some shots.  Attitude wise, age four is better than three, but four still has it's moments so I think these shots are pretty representative of Teagan some days.  Overall though, I like them - kids aren't all smiles all the time, and it's nice to see something different.  The third one, with her hands on her hips?  Love it!

Watch out, Bambi

On my way home from a photo session Thursday I saw a cute Mama and baby deer on the side of the road.  I quickly pulled over, since my camera was on the passenger seat.  I walked back quietly to where they were to take a few photos.  Just as I got close another fawn came out of the woods and crossed the road, followed by yet another.  It was so cool to see somewhat up close.  With the winding park roads I was afraid someone would buzz around the corner and hit the deer so I was happy when they all made it across safely.

Bounce House Birthday Party

Teagan's friend Danny turned four this month so she was invited to his birthday party at a local bounce house place.  She enjoyed running around with her friends and sliding down the huge, fast slide.  They had arcade games, a hand pedal train, and a few big bouncing apparatus.  After an exhausting stint in the bounce room they headed to the party room for pizza, cake, and gifts.  Teagan had a blast and wore herself out with all of the playtime.

Corning Cousin Visit

Another weekend, another roadtrip.  That's how we roll.  The weekend after Boston we road tripped two hours to cousin Alysa's in Painted Post/Corning.  Grammy Sue came with and we picked up Alysa and went to lunch in downtown Corning.  We all enjoyed some lunch at the open air side of the restaurant - the weather was perfect.  After lunch we decided to venture to the Corning Museum of Glass - it was the first time Matt or I had been.

We signed up for some glass projects and then did a (shorter than we would have otherwise liked due to cranky kids) stint through the museum.  First up was Teagan's frame making session.  Matt helped her decorate her frame and I tried (unsuccessfully) to get Declan to nap in the carrier.  After that we shuffled to an outdoor setup for glass blowing, where 3 of the 4 adults had signed up to make a blown glass ornament.  We picked colors and suited up with fancy booties (and by we I mean everyone else, since my tired kids would have flipped their shiz if I had left them to blow glass at that point).  It wasn't very interactive - you get to pick your colors and blow into a tube when they tell you, and someone else does all the rest of the work, so I didn't feel like I had missed out.  After that we headed to our favorite stop, Peaches 'n Cream for some ice cream.  Declan shared with me, and when ours was empty he started hitting up everyone else for bites.  My heart melted into a puddle on the ground when Teagan was so sweet about sharing hers.  "Come here Buddy, have some more...open wide" - I die.  We went back to Alysa's to visit for a bit and decided to hit the road to get the kids home for bed.  The trip home was luckily uneventful so all in all it was a successful trip!  We are already planning another get together with Alysa - a hike at Watkins Glen or a girls day at the outlet mall.

Last weekend of shaggy shag - so enjoy that cute mop while you can
